9 Days Rwenzori Trekking Tour via kilembe trail

Day 1: Transfer to kilembe

Our guide will pick you from the airport/your hotel and drive to kasese-kilembe. The drive will take you around 8 hours. You will have a stop over in mubende for lunch and then proceed with your journey to kilembe. You will check in at trekkers hostel, have dinner and spend the night.

 ​Day 2:  Hike to Sine Camp

At Trekkers hostel kilembe the base camp at 1450 meters. Have briefing from the guides and start the trek to sleep at Sine Camp 2596 meters following a height gain of 1146 meters.

Day 3: Hike to Mutinda Camp

Hike to Mutinda Camp at 3688 metres, through the Bambo and Heather-Rapanea Zone, following the trail while it meanders up and over several small knolls along a ridge top and drops down the side of the valley crossing several small streams and passing close to moss covered waterfalls with very unique beautiful plant and flower species found above 3000metres like Giant Heather trees whose trunks are covered in green moss with old man beards (Usnea lichen) hanging from the branches, approaching to Mutinda camp which is set near a small river and waterfall. In the afternoon one has an option of summiting  Mutinda lookout at 3975 metres.

Day 4: Hike to Bugata Camp

Hike to Bugata camp at 4100 meters, with a height gain of 412 meters through the valley of amazingly unique beautiful plant species, streams and waterfalls while we head to Bugata camp at 4100 meters. the trek gets tougher and exhausting with the steep ridges, mud and boggy sections, high steps but the rewards are enormously beautiful.

Day 5: Hike to Hunwick’s Camp

Hike to Hunwick’s camp at 3974 meters, via Bamwanjara pass at 4450meters having excellent views of the main peaks whilst the trek.

 Day 6: Hike to Kiharo Camp

From Hunwick’s Camp after breakfast, we descend down through oliver’s pass right below Weismann’s peak to Kiharo camp 3430 metres. offering you different views as the loop takes you to a different side of the mountain.

Day 7:​ Descend to Samalira Camp

Descend down to Samalira camp 3170 metres, where one can enjoy some views of the Rwenzori Turacco up the trees if your lucky.

Day 8: Descend to Base Camp at Kilembe

Descend down down hill past the moss covered rocks along rivers and beautiful forests back to the basecamp in Kilembe. Have dinner and spend the night at trekkers hostel.

Day 9: Depart Back to Kampala or Entebbe Airport

After breakfast the guide will pick you from the hostel and drive back to Kampala at the hotel or drop off at the airport.
